Weeks Provides Analysis on Chavez Death
With the March 5, 2013 death of Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez after over a decade in power, the country and its people will face decisions about its future that observers say could lead to unrest and political struggles.

Weeks is professor and chair of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is also the editor of the academic journal The Latin Americanist. His research interests include Latin American politics, U.S.-Latin American relations, and Latin American immigration to the United States. He is past president of the Southeastern Council of Latin American Studies (SECOLAS).
