Sociology and Political Science online bachelor’s degrees recognized among nation’s best
UNC Charlotte has been recognized as the top-ranked institution in North Carolina for online education, and is tied for the third spot nationwide in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Online Bachelor’s Degrees rankings, which were released today.
The rankings are based on metrics specific to online learning, including student engagement, faculty training, and support services.
Two bachelor’s degrees from the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences, CHESS, were included in the undergraduate rankings. The political science bachelor’s degree and the sociology bachelor’s degree with a concentration in organizations, occupations and work, may be completed fully online, often when a student has earned prior college credits.
“We are pleased to engage with our students through a variety of learning opportunities and deliver high-quality online programs that can be flexible for students,” said Chris Boyer, founding dean of CHESS. “Our faculty and staff work hard to meet students’ learning needs and help them reach their goals for evolving careers serving our communities and answering the big questions of today.”
