CHESS Students Sweep the 2025 Honors College Dean’s Prizes

Students from the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences swept the 2025 Honors College Dean’s Prizes, which were awarded for their outstanding honors capstone theses/projects.
A virtual award ceremony was held this summer, with winners each receiving a $500 prize.
Students were nominated by their respective Honors Program director after they met the requirements of being in good standing with the Honors Program, maintaining at least a 3.5 overall GPA and exemplifying the Honors College core value of mutual investment.
Foster Duckworth, a history major, was nominated by Maren Ehlers, associate professor of history. Duckworth expects to graduate in 2026.
Mia Huffman ’25, was nominated by John Stogner, professor of criminal justice and criminology. Huffman earned a B.A. in sociology, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and with both University Honors and Honors in Criminal Justice. Huffman is currently attending the University of Maryland College Park, pursuing a Ph.D. in criminology and criminal justice.
Ana Krstanovic ’25, was nominated by Tiffany Gallicano, associate professor of communication studies. Krstanovic earned a B.A. in Communication Studies, graduating Magna Cum Laude, with Honors in Communication Studies. Krystanovic spent the summer as an intern with UNC Charlotte’s Office of Emergency Management and is now a graduate student at Charlotte, working as a graduate teaching assistant with UNC Charlotte’s Department of Political Science and Public Administration.
Tashawna Wilkins ’25, was nominated by Victoria Rankin, associate teaching professor of sociology. Wilkins earned a B.A. in sociology, graduating Summa Cum Laude with Honors in Sociology, and was a Levine Scholar. This summer, Wilkins completed an internship with Wake County Community Services and is now pursuing a master’s degree at UNC Charlotte in public administration and will be a graduate assistant.
