Public Affairs programs earn major gains in latest U.S. News Rankings
The Public Affairs program in the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences posted significant gains in the newly released U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings, reinforcing UNC Charlotte’s growing national reputation in public service education.
Four specialty areas within the Gerald G. Fox Master of Public Administration program ranked among the top programs in the country, with notable upward movement:
- Nonprofit Management: No. 12 (up 12 spots)
- Local Government Management: No. 18 (up 3 spots)
- Public Finance and Budgeting: No. 19 (up 4 spots)
- Public Management and Leadership: No. 32 (new ranking)
The MPA program overall rose two spots to No. 47 nationally, continuing its steady climb among public affairs programs.

The program prepares students for leadership roles across government and nonprofit organizations, supported by faculty expertise, dedicated staff and a strong network of practitioners and alumni who provide internships, fellowships and professional development opportunities.

Students can pursue core management and leadership training along with specialized study in areas such as urban management and policy, nonprofit management, emergency management, public budgeting and finance, and arts administration.
