  • NPR affiliate WFAE featured Dr. Michael Hudson, Chair of the Biology Department, to discuss antibiotic-resistant bacteria on “Charlotte Talks.”  (June 26)
  • WCNC-TV quoted Chemistry assistant professor Dr. Sherine Obare about the making of biodiesel fuel in its story “Thieves steal leftover grease to make biodiesel fuel.” (June 12)
  • News 14 Carolina, in its story “CMPD civilians receive national award,” and the Charlotte Observer, in its story “Honor for Cold Case Members,” both reported on the Citizen Volunteer Service Award won by Dr. Vivian Lord, Chair of the Criminal Science Department.  The Winston-Salem Journal quoted her about the State Bureau of Investigation in “Fatal Bullet Hit in Back.” (June 1)  WSOC-TV interviewed her about the new Charlotte-Mecklenburg Chief of Police in “Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Garners Conflicting Opinions.” (May 16)

  • The Charlotte Observer announced the College’s name change to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in “UNC Charlotte College to Change Name,” featured in its “College Notes” section. (June 22)
