Faculty Expertise
- Bill Brandon, political science, was quoted in the WCNC-TV story responding to the online discussion about health care reform. He also discussed health care reform on WFAE’s “Charlotte Talks.” (Aug. 18)
- Deborah Bosley, English, wrote the article “Plain Language Builds Trust, and Trust is Good for Business,” for NC Magazine.
- Rosemarie Tong, philosophy and Center for Professional and Applied Ethics, was a guest on WFAE’s “Charlotte Talks,” discussing “Political Scandals of the Carolinas.” (July 28)
- Rich Tedeschi, psychology, was the featured guest on Philadelphia’s WHYY radio program “Voices in the Family.” (Aug. 10).
- Vivian Lord, criminal justice and criminology, was quoted in the Louisville Courier-Journal story “’Suicide by cop’ might be behind police shootings. (Aug.9)” She was also quoted in the Associated Press story “Residents on edge as 9 women vanish from NC city,” which was picked up by a number of media outlets.

- Communication studies graduate and current Master of Liberal Studies student Brandon Kirkley was profiled in Creative Loafing about his band and his role as station manager of UNC Charlotte’s new radio station.
- Samantha Badger, a 2008 graduate of the communication studies department, was featured in the Fayetteville Observer story “Fayetteville native a rising star in Charlotte” (Aug. 10). She was also featured in the cover article of the summer 2009 issue of Charlotte Style magazine.
