Psychology major awarded Newman Civic Fellowship

Madison File, a junior Levine Scholar majoring in psychology and chemistry, has been named a 2025–26 Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact, recognizing her commitment to driving meaningful change on campus and beyond.
As a researcher in the Collective Wellness Lab, led by Victoria Scott, Ph.D., MBA, associate professor in the Department of Psychological Science, File works to mitigate access barriers to youth psychiatric care.
Through the Academy for Population Health Innovation (APHI), a partnership between UNC Charlotte and Mecklenburg County Public Health, File focuses on improving behavioral health services across Charlotte.
Her commitment to leadership and advocacy is also reflected in her involvement in numerous campus organizations. As the public relations coordinator for Ninerthon, she promoted fundraising efforts for Levine Children’s Hospital, and as president of Students Against Melanoma, she helped support the fundraising, research and educational initiatives for skin cancer prevention.
The Newman Civic Fellowship is a yearlong program recognizing students for their leadership potential and commitment to creating positive change in communities. The fellowship provides students opportunities for leadership development, networking, and access to grants, scholarships, and post-graduate pathways.
