When UNC Charlotte alumna Sayra Brynn embarked on a career in public relations, she never anticipated working alongside construction sites, nor did she envision how much she would enjoy the work. Brynn serves as the public and community relations specialist for the Charlotte Area Transit System, and her work is dedicated to the LYNX Blue Line Extension.

Susana Cisneros has received the President’s Volunteer Service Award from the Corporation for National and Community Service in recognition and appreciation for her volunteerism in the Charlotte region.

UNC Charlotte students have received awards for their writing, presented during the University Writing Program’s s Excellence in First Year Writing ceremony on Friday, April 17 in the Halton Reading Room at J. Murrey Atkins Library.

Janna Shedd, Tonya Bates and Robin James have received the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ 2015 Teaching Awards for their dedication, teaching and research contributions and lasting impact on students.

The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences will add the position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Diversity to the Dean’s Office in 2015-16. Shawn Long, currently chair of the Department of Communication Studies, will assume this role on July 1.

In his work with The Chicago Council on Global Affairs, UNC Charlotte alumnus Andy Morimoto draws upon skills he honed at UNC Charlotte, as he works on a broad range of international, political, and economic issues.

Joe Kuhns is one of three nominees for the College’s Integration of Undergraduate Teaching and Research Award.

Paula Connolly of the Department of English is one of three nominees for the College’s Integration of Undergraduate Teaching and Research Award.

Robin James of the Department of Philosophy is one of three nominees for the College’s Integration of Undergraduate Teaching and Research Award.

Janna Shedd of Religious Studies is one of three nominees for the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Award the Award for Outstanding Teaching by a Part-Time Faculty Member. She has been a faculty member at UNC Charlotte since 2009.
