In recognition of their exceptional teaching and abilities to connect with students, Didier Dréau, Angela Jakeway and Andrew Goff have received the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Excellence in Teaching Awards for the 2019-2020 academic year.

UNC Charlotte’s Master of Public Administration program is waiving its GRE requirement for Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 applicants, in response to the impact of COVID-19.

UNC Charlotte poets are thinking and writing about the impact of challenging times on the human spirit. Some of their poems address COVID-19 directly, and all of the poetry considers people’s responses to times of trouble and change.

Jennifer Webb is among the 2020 recipients of the UNC Board of Governors Awards for Excellence in Teaching. She considers her classroom a space where students are co-creators in the process of learning with the goal of enhancing student motivation and learning.

Jeanette Bennett received the Bonnie E. Cone Early-Career Professorship for Teaching in recognition of her strong commitment to teaching, advising and mentoring.

Joanne Carman has received the Bonnie E. Cone Professorship in Civic Engagement for an ongoing commitment to civic involvement that has positively impacted the University’s relationship with the community.

The Department of Africana Studies is this year’s recipient of the Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching for its collective dedication to high-quality teaching and improvements to student learning and outcomes that have resulted in increased interest in the major and minor.

Lara Vetter, professor of English, has received this year’s Thomas L. Reynolds Leadership Award for her contributions to student success and enrollment management.

Frederik N. Smith, a retired professor and former chair of the Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at UNC Charlotte, died on March 19, 2020.

Two graduate students in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences – Nitika, who is pursuing her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, and Caroline Brinegar, who is pursuing her master’s degree in Geography – were recently designated UNC Charlotte’s most Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistants.
